Steve is a retired doctor who became disabled at age 54 from a neurological disease. His illness affected his gait and balance as well as producing a loss of sensation and numbness in his hands and feet. While these restrictions limited his activity level, they did not inhibit his desire for adventure. After watching the movie "ABOUT SCHMIDT", staring Jack Nicholson, he made a decision to purchase a motor home and travel the countryside. He searched the web for a suitable vehicle and found one that met his needs and budget. With a few modifications to accommodate his disability, he was ready to roll. Peter was saved from death by a Pet Rescue Agency (The Cat Connection) and adopted and home schooled by Steve. He is a light brown 5-year-old Jindo-Chow-Lab mix, about 60 pounds, and the best behaved and most optimistic dog you’ll ever meet. On September 11th, 2003, the Highway Guys set out on the adventure of their lives.
