HIGHWAY GUYS

Steve and Peter travel the roads of the U.S. in an RV (called The Beast). Steve is retired and disabled (mobility impaired) and Peter is his service dog. They started their adventure on September 11th ,2003. Home base currently is Los Angeles, California. On the road, they live in a 1993, 28 foot, Allegro Bay class A motor home. Their goal is just to enjoy the thrill of travel and exploration for as long as the Beast and their health allow.

HWG

September 11th, 2003

Well dear friends,
The Adventure has begun.

With the great help from some terrific friends, esp. Marci and Gail, we got the Beast outfitted, supplied and organized.
Peter and I left LA Thurs morn, Sept 11th, heading for Vegas.
The trip was uneventful; except for the times Peter couldn’t decide where he felt safest.

I thought he was beginning to trust my driving, but he still insists on wearing a crash helmet and safety harness, He’s a real confidence builder.

Circus Circus has its own RV Park, right on the strip. It was pretty hot, so we took it easy during the day, and in the evening, with the aide of my new scooter, we prowled the streets. We didn’t get too far, but Peter held up pretty well with the noise, lights and excitement.

We stayed 2 nights and then headed north, thru Arizona to Utah. Right now it is a cool evening in Fillmore, Utah, and we are sitting at a picnic table in an RV park checking email and writing letters. This Sprint wireless setup is worth its weight in gold – let’s hope I can say that when I get to Wyoming and South Dakota.
